“Chops” is a play in two acts about women and their struggle for power. Although the play seems to follow the mannerisms and language of Victorian times, it’s actual time period and setting are imaginary. The characters’ names and even their attitudes throughout the play don’t feel quite right and the story itself can be hard-hitting on some level. The characters are composed of mostly women with varying personalities and points of view on societal norms.
In the play, the central figure, Marg, is ostracized by the women in town for her “modern” views on marriage and re-marriage. She ends up being accused for the murder of all 13 of her husbands, when in reality they are all alive as the play unravels Marg’s unexpected secret.
